I woke up in the tent around 6:30 a.m. I laid awake scrolling through social media, and around 8:30 a.m. I drove to work.
I arrived at work at 9:00 a.m. at around 10:30 a.m. I coordinated with a Local MAT provider I’ll call Luminescence, and one of their clinical workers to pick up our client Jess to receive methadone from Luminescence. This is a joyous occasion, considering I’ve been working on helping Jess access drug treatment for some time. Jess’ boyfriend Pedro is currently in jail.
On my way to Luminescence I saw a homeless man panhandling and he told me his name was John. He didn’t give me any more information but I gave him some drinks and I gave him a local resource guide and my business cards. I asked John to connect with me so I could help him with further services.
When I arrived at Luminescence I met up with Pedro, one of their workers, and we went and picked up Jess, and brought her back to Luminescence for treatment.
It was around 1:00 p.m. and I drove back to the shelter. I spent some time doing some work in my homeless database Vesta.
At 3:00 p.m. I took some extra sandwiches and drinks and took a ride with The shelter worker Milton over to McDonald’s where we engaged with multiple homeless people, some I have not seen before and I took their information down to be added in Vesta. We handed out sandwiches and drinks and gave the people inspiration and hope.
At around 4:15 p.m. I finished writing this log and wrapped up my paperwork.
At around 5:00 p.m. I left work and I drove to my girlfriend’s apartment in Lowell. I was getting ready to cook dinner, and my girlfriend brought up old issues that had upset her in the past. I became frustrated, and she and I proceeded to argue. Usually when she becomes aggressive I leave. This time I ended up staying. I understand she will get like this every now and again. Usually once a month. If I’m lucky enough I can go 2 months without her going ballistic on me. I’m learning to weather the storms.
