2-29-2024 day 152, Thursday, The Meek Shall Inherit the Earth

5:30 a.m. I woke up at my girlfriend’s apartment. I quietly get ready for the day, I give her a kiss and I head out to work.

6:30 a.m. I arrived at the office a little bit early. Once again I start to get caught up on work, and I start thinking of things I can do to improve our program. I’m always keeping a list of things that need to be done.

7:00 a.m. My colleague calls out for the day due to a family emergency. I spend the Morning doing training on the homeless database that I use to document my engagements in the street.

1:00 p.m. After the training I took a ride with another one of my colleagues to an encampment by the river. I’ve been informed of complaints by a local church that there are homeless people that have been asking church goers for money. I bring food and other supplies. I just want to see how many people are living in this area. When we arrive at the church you can see the encampment from the parking lot behind the church. There’s one tent really close, and then there’s about 6 tents close by. There’s also some more sophisticated encampments a little ways down the river. We drop off some supplies to the people, and then head back to the shelter.

3:00 p.m. I drove out to my campsite. There’s not much more to report for this day. I hang in the tent, talk to people on the phone, do a little bit of work and then get to sleep around 8:30 p.m.
