5:30 a.m. I woke up at my girlfriend’s apartment. It’s still a little bit messy here. I get dressed and I say my goodbyes, and I drive to work.
8:30 a.m. My outreach colleague and I prepared some snacks, and get clothes and gear to hand out to the people in the street. We traveled along the river today. There’s some people camping in dilapidated tents, and there’s also people that have set up pretty sophisticated camps that look and feel more like a home.
12:00 p.m. After a long morning of connecting with people along the river, my colleague and I stopped at a Dominican restaurant to get some food. My outreach colleague is Dominican, which comes in handy because he speaks fluent Spanish, whereas I barely speak any Spanish.
3:00 p.m. I finished the day at the office. I say goodbye to the guests in the shelter and my coworkers and I drive over to my tent. I have a lot of work to get caught up on. February was a difficult month for me. It’s almost over, and I plan on getting back on track and bringing more content to this project of homelessness, about homelessness, while working with the homeless.
3:25 p.m. While I’m driving by the entrance to my campsite off of the highway, I see two cops and a dog hanging out right where I enter my secret driveway. They seem happy enough. I wonder if they have discovered my camp. I drove by them and then I parked down the street for a little while. After about a half hour passes I drive back again, this time only one cop is there, and he has a mobile sign that says “Walk to End Cancer”. I realize that they posted up in that area because it’s a good spot to put a sign. I parked down the road a little ways and I waited a little while, about a half an hour I’d say. When I drive back everybody’s gone and it is about 4:30 p.m. I drive my truck up my secret driveway and I walk down to my camp.
8:30 p.m. After I spend a lot of time writing, and getting caught up on uploading videos. I settle in and go to sleep for the night.
