1/19/24 Day 111, Friday, Northshore, Crash

7:30 a.m. I woke up at my girlfriend’s house. The plan today is to drop off the flex car that she had been renting, because she had gotten a used 2003 Honda Pilot for cheap that I helped her get fixed and inspected so that she doesn’t have to continue getting robbed by the flex car rental agency.

9:00 a.m. I head out and I drive to my friend’s house in Danvers. I stopped by his work and I talked to him. Like a lot of us he definitely has some stuff going on in his life so it’s good to have a conversation on both our parts. I spend some time in his apartment taking a shower and washing my clothes. I needed to give myself a haircut so I use his buzzers to shave my head.

2:30 p.m. I’ve been hanging around my friend’s apartment waiting for my girlfriend to get ready to drop off the flex car at the The flex car rental agency. It’s in Auburn Mass so it’s more than an hour drive. I was hoping to start heading out that way before 1:00, but she had errands to run and she had to drop off her son with his father. We’ve been texting back and forth and she finally picks me up at around 4:00 p.m. We drive together to pick up the flex car that is at her work down the street, The rental car is a Mitsubishi outlander. She drives the Mitsubishi outlander and I drive the pilot all the way out to Auburn Mass.

4:30 p.m. I had arrived at the Flex car rental place, and was waiting for her to arrive. I get a phone call from her while I’m waiting and she tells me that she crashed the car and she was only about 4 minutes away from the rental place! I’m at first glad to hear that she’s okay and there are people there helping her, other drivers said that they had seen the accident. She slipped on a patch of snow or ice and the car careened out of control. I went into the flex car rental agency and explaining to them what happened. They give me information about what happens when there’s an accident and I send a picture to her of a number to call. Her and I exchange a lot of text back and forth. The police end up coming and a tow truck comes and takes the car. The location she sends me is not close to where she actually is because she’s on an off-ramp. The whole situation is stressful and she’s definitely really freaked out by the situation. I end up seeing the tow truck with her Flex Car on it coming down the off ramp so I follow them. The tow truck driver ends up taking the Mitsubishi outlander to the tow yard and she and I drive back over to the flex car rental agency. We give them the tow truck driver’s information and they tell us that it could be $2,000 in a deductible for the accident. Considering all the stress that she had experienced, it didn’t make much sense to really iron out the details at that moment. My girlfriend and I drove back to her apartment and I decided on the ride that instead of staying outside I would stay with her, and keep her company after experiencing that traumatic incident.
