1/18/24 Day 110, Thursday, Dedham, Bombshell in the Karen Read case

8:30 a.m. I woke up, and my girlfriend and I spent a good portion of the morning together. Today is Karen Read’s pretrial court date where she will be arguing some motions in front of the court one to release letters between the Norfolk district county DA’s office and the US attorney’s office. And the other motion being argued is for the Commonwealth to obtain privileged notes from a reporter who interviewed Karen Read.

11:30 a.m. I drove out to Dedham where Norfolk Superior Court is located. I’m one of the first Karen Read supporters there, so I just hang around. Karen’s case isn’t being heard until 3:00 p.m.

I go into a small Thai restaurant next to the Norfolk Superior Court house and I get some noodles. I loved the pictures they had on the bathroom!

When I go outside again, I run into Grant Smith Ellis who is Wendy Murphy’s son, two people that have been spewing vitriol about Karen Read and Turtleboy. Most if not all of what they say is confabulated and untrue. Regardless, we have free speech in this country and people can say what they want, and we can all make up our own minds. I talked to Grant for a while about the case, he seems to understand about the botched investigation, corruption, and likelihood that John O’Keefe was not hit by a Lexis, but it’s obvious to see that he has his own motivations in what he does. After we talk for a while he slinks off behind the courthouse to smoke a blunt.

1:30 p.m. While I was talking to Grant, more Karen Read supporters showed up and I remember inviting Grant over to talk to people. Because of what Grant says I can understand why he is afraid of us. Karen Read’s supporters have been painted as a mindless mob and conspiracy theorists, by online trolls and crazy people. The truth is we are right and truth is coming to light. When Grant walks away I walk over and greet all my friends on the side of justice by opening my jacket and exposing my Free Karen Read shirt. I roared like a bear as I did this, and was greeted with many hugs. I hung out with my fellow protesters. There were a few news outlets there and I did a quick interview with one. We were all showing our support.

At around 2:30 I walked into the court with some of my fellow protesters who are like family and we all were allowed to sit in the court to listen as the motions were discussed.

4:00 p.m. I sat right behind Jennifer and Matt McCabe. Jennifer McCabe googled “how long to die cold” hours before John O’Keefe’s body was found. I had my Free Karen Read shirt out for the world to see. During the hearing Karen’s lawyer David Yannetti dropped a bombshell saying that the US attorney’s office would be releasing information to exonerate Karen Reed at the next court date on February 15th. When I walked out of the courtroom I did a video of Jennifer McCabe and her posse leaving the courtroom doing the walk of shame.

5:00 p.m. I drove back to my girlfriend’s apartment and I spent the night with her again. I feel guilty when I don’t sleep outside. At this point I have no problem sleeping outside in any amount of cold or any weather. But I have to be a good boyfriend to her and be there to support her in her life.
