12/8/23 Day 69, Friday, Lawrence, City of Fat Squirrels

7:30 a.m. I wake up, my friend is sleeping in the other room so I quietly gather up all my stuff, make the bed, and drive towards the Lawrence Library.

I arrive at the Lawrence Library a little after 8:00 a.m. The library doesn’t open until 9:00 a.m. I have to use the bathroom really badly. I want to hold it, but that is not an option. I grabbed my backpack, and I start walking towards the Lawrence Commons, but looking on my phone’s for dunkin’ donuts or somewhere I could use a bathroom. As I’m passing a church I see a man standing outside. I asked him if I can use the bathroom in the church, he says the church is not open. He then says to me Town Hall is right across the park they have a public bathroom there. I thank the man and he tells me his name is Samuel. I use the bathroom in Town Hall, and all is well once again. I decide to take my time walking across the park, and I watch some of the fat squirrels playing. While I’m walking I come across an old man in a motorized wheelchair and I record him as he feeds the squirrels.

9:15 a.m. I head into the library and I hang out for a while and charge my phones. I have a lunch planned with a friend at 1:00 p.m. at a Mexican joint.

12:00 p.m. I’ve been looking through my phones in the general area, I decide just in case my friend bails on me to grab some soup. I walk over to the Essex Street Market, and I get a small chicken soup and a postolito. When I leave the small market I don’t know where I will sit to eat. I walk a little ways down the street and I see some stone pillars, and I find a beautiful alley garden with painted walls on either side. The Sun is beaming from just over the building right on to me, I can take my jacket off and enjoy my soup and pastelito.

12:50 p.m. I walk down the street to meet my friend at the Mexican joint. We have a nice lunch, and afterwards I showed her the spot that I found. On the way we see a Grinch and a Subaru. Then we walk to her work and I say my goodbyes.

1:00 p.m. I head back to the library to make plans for the rest of the afternoon. I had talked to an old friend one of my managers I worked with at Aware recovery care. Since I was in the area I said I would stop by. My old manager said that she would be home around 3:30.

3:45 p.m. I drive up to New Hampshire to visit my manager. Her and I both left aware under uncomfortable circumstances. The company has changed and become highly corporatized, and has lost the holistic recovery feel that it had when we first started. My Old manager now works for the state. It was good to spend time with my friend and her husband. There was a curly haired poodle dog named mojo, and a friendly cat named Mia. We spent a few hours talking about old times, and new times. It’s always good to connect with people that hold a special place in the mind.

6:30 p.m. I began driving back to the North shore MA from New Hampshire. I think of a woman that has held a lot of interest in my mind. I shoot her a text to see what she’s doing. She says she has her son, and I offer to cook dinner for them both. She agrees, so I put her address in my GPS. While on the way I stopped at the market to grab some food to make dinner.

8:00 p.m. I cook dinner for my friend and her son. It’s a nice night and it’s good to spend time with them. Around 9:30 p.m. her son goes to sleep, and her and I go to bed shortly after.
