Rain stopped around 7:00 a.m. I’ve been awake since around 6:00 a.m. but tried to sleep until the rain abated. I was groggy from the melatonin.
Around 7:15 a.m. I got out of the tent and I began getting all my gear together. I hung the rain fly on a tree after shaking all the water off. I had to peel slugs off of the tent since they were climbing up in the night. I trekked through some pricker bushes and held on to a tree while I relieved myself of a #2. It took me about a half hour to break down camp and get as much water off of my gear as possible. My shoes were wet and some of my stuff was soggy, but it wasn’t that bad. The rain seeped through a little bit, I think because one time I washed my tent in the washing machine. The lesson I learned is I will never wash a tent again. I think it washes off the water resistance.
I rode my bike over to the buffer zone. Everybody was setting up for another day of jury deliberation. At around 9:00 a.m. I took a walk over to the library, I went the long way this time, so I wouldn’t pass the back of the courthouse and be harassed and accosted by the State Police.
I charged my phones in the library. Every now and again I would take a break and I would go outside. It was a beautiful day. At one point I was standing in the library yard looking at the courthouse. I saw Karen Read, her legal team, her family and some friends being escorted by troopers into the courthouse. I waved and Karen Read waved back. The picture below 👇 is from the buffer zone. I didn’t have my phones to take a picture from the library.
One of the state troopers on a bicycle began yelling at me to get back. I yelled, “I am on library property.” The State trooper yelled, “it’s not alright.” I yelled back, “It is alright!”
After another day of no verdict, I decided to take the train back to my girlfriend’s apartment. She missed me, and it didn’t seem wise to spend another full day waiting around in Dedham. So I took the train and made the trip back to my love.
