I woke up at my girlfriend’s apartment around 7:00 a.m. and I headed off to work around 8:30 a.m.
I arrived at the shelter at 9:00 a.m. I packed some drinks, and I went to meet up with The Outreach worker from the methadone clinic. He wasn’t at the clinic, so I texted him, and he said that he was wrapping up with a doctor’s appointment and will be back in about an hour.
I went to McDonald’s to do some homeless outreach. I met up with Morgan who is a homeless drug addict, mainly fentanyl. She was intoxicated on what looked like fentanyl and sitting at a table at McDonald’s. She asked if I had any tents, I responded that I did not. She discussed her struggles with drug addiction, and recovery in the past. She did not seek services, but she did take my card and promised to reach out if she needed help with anything. I also saw Rod at McDonald’s, and he refused any service. While leaving McDonald’s I engaged with Epi, who asked for new sneakers and said that he would stop by the shelter at some point to get them from our donations trailer.
From McDonald’s I drove to The harm reduction Center where I met with their recovery coach. We took a ride over to the bridge encampment. There I engaged with Mary and I did a full Street Outreach intake as well as an intake into the housing system, I also gave Mary some drinks. We walked along the river and there I met with Chris, there was another couple there that refused to identify themselves, they were in their tent and I gave them drinks.
From the bridge I drove back to the harm reduction Center where I dropped their recovery coach off and I stopped by the faith-based homeless day shelter to see who was there. My homeless client David was there and reported that he had received his housing and would be moving in this week or next week. Having gotten some engagements and completing a housing referral, I returned back to the shelter to finish up updating the vesta system, and writing this log, and left early for the day, which was reflected on my timesheet.
Since I no longer have an outreach partner, and there’s a lot of static between me and Ezekiel and the CEO, if I don’t have anything to do I just leave early. I drove to my girlfriend’s apartment and she and I spent the rest of the day together.
