4/14/2024 Day 197, Sunday, Getting back in Shape.

At around 8:30 a.m. I woke up at my friend’s apartment. I spent some time with my friend. Him and I discussed a lot of things about life and our different situations. He has kids, and an ex that he has to deal with on a regular basis, who creates a lot of stress and difficulty in his life. I have no children and I have few responsibilities. I exist almost like a leaf being blown on the wind. I could not imagine having that type of responsibility and having to deal with a person like my ex, who could be so mean and nasty sometimes. I embrace my life of freedom and I am confident that through the struggle I will find my own personal happiness and freedom. I do not envy my friend for his situation, having to be responsible and loyal to his children, while having to navigate the monster at the gate.

I left my friend’s place around 11:30 a.m. after taking a shower and getting my things put together.

I found a cool backpack in my dad’s junk pile which I took with me from Phoenix. I moved all my stuff from my little travel pack that attaches with a zipper on my big hiking pack into the backpack that I got from my dad’s junk pile. I drove to the shelter I work at. One of the shelter workers is having a birthday and I’m going to attend.

I spent the rest of the afternoon at the shelter. A homeless man arrived and I did an intake with him into the shelter and into the homeless database, and I also did a referral for rapid rehousing for him as well. It was a nice day and I hung out with my fellow shelter staff and the shelter guests. It was a beautiful day to be alive.

Around 6:00 p.m. I drove back to my camp. At around 7:15 p.m. I put on my vibram five finger hiking shoes, and I went for a long trail run / hike in the woods along the electrical wires. I explored a beautiful pond that was quite a ways down. I stayed out until it was dark, and I could hear all the peepers peeping.

I look forward to getting in better shape. I guess for myself and my own health, but so I can find myself another partner. I really do not like being alone and I do not like the absence of human romance. All people crave connection. For the most part, although there are probably a few exceptions.

I got back to my camp around 8:30 p.m. and I settled in for the night.

I woke up periodically in the night. When it gets late and there are very few cars driving by I can hear nature pretty vividly. I’ve begun to hear a new sound. It’s like a zapping sound. It does not sound natural to me and I believe it is the sound of the electricity running through the electrical wires that are a few hundred yards from me. It’s a very interesting and unnatural sound.
