Identify Society Homeless 366 10/21/2023 Day 21, Saturday, Northshore MA, Brain Baby

10/21/2023 Day 21, Saturday, Northshore MA, Brain Baby

7:00 a.m. I wake up. I slept well. My body feels better I’ve been in some pain in my back and in my knees from the pack and riding the bike. It rained most of the day yesterday, and it’s been raining all night. I do some work on the media platforms some uploading of videos. I’m looking forward to Handball at Nine this morning.

8:15 a.m. I head over to Walmart to get a bike rack for the bike. The road bike that was donated to me by Mary is very light. But there’s not a lot of space to put stuff on. I need a little back rack so I can strap stuff there occasionally.

8:50 a.m. I leave Walmart to go to play handball with my friends at LA fitness in Malden. This is therapy for me We play every Saturday we’ve been doing so for about 4 years. I see my friends Pat, Mike, Neff, Dennis, Carlos, and a new guy shows up named Matt. We play small ball four wall and Matt is a really good player. It’s good for me because it helps me develop my game. I do a short video with Carlos. We have a good conversation about Homelessness and handball.

The Don of Handball

11:00 a.m. I leave LA fitness to head back to my friend’s house so that I can work on completing the blog. My mother calls me, she says she had gone out to see some friends and she has a life. I asked her what she’s up to now and she said, “nothing.” So I headed over there for a visit. Per usual Mr Charlie is really excited to see me. I go through some of my mail and have a nice visit with my mother. From there I head back to my friend’s house to work on the blog and organize.

1:00 p.m. The rain continues. I work on the blog and I set up for my first live on YouTube. This is all new territory for me. The rest of the day is mostly dull. I hang out at my friend’s house. The rain continues.

9:00 p.m. I end up doing my live. A few people watch. It’s just me talking and explaining a little bit about my experiences being homeless in Boston. After the live I had to fix the live streams on YouTube to be public and now I understand a little bit better how to utilize the Live feed service on YouTube. I don’t really have anywhere else to go so once again I stay at my friend’s apartment. This whole project is a constant stream of learning how to adapt. Tomorrow I head to Framingham.

HINDSIGHT: 9/29/2025

Figuring out how to document everything was a constant stressor and challenge starting at this project’s mental seed of inception. I experimented with things like Facebook and You tube live, I realized I preferred to just record things and upload them to You Tube, taking pictures, and writing. There are more things that I was unable to capture, than is presented in this work. Going over just these 21 days has shown me how much there is. The idea of creating a hindsight writing section as I edit and revise came to me towards the end of this production in September 2024. I really hoped to grind out a finished product by the end date of the project, but I was unable to do that. I had hoped to begin editing right away after I got a place and started my new job. Instead I immersed myself in work and life, and didn’t have the motivation to work on editing and revising. I did start a couple times working on editing, but gave up. Now that I’m actually making headway today, I am very happy I decided to add more thoughts and context to this work after I lived it in the hindsight writing. After a year back to work and living in an apartment, the effects of this year of vagrancy still linger. It changed the trajectory of my life, for the better or worse; I still don’t know. Regardless, the way I see the world is drastically different than it was two years ago. Not being able to add context and substance now to this mind child would take away from the spirit that birthed it.
