5:30 a.m. I woke up at my girlfriend’s apartment. I quietly got ready for the day, I gave her a kiss and headed out to work.
6:30 a.m. I arrived at the office a little bit early. Once again I start to get caught up on work, and I start thinking of things I can do to improve our program. I’m always keeping a list of things that need to be done.
7:00 a.m. My colleague calls out for the day due to a family emergency. I spent the Morning doing training on the homeless database that I use to document my engagements.
1:00 p.m. After the training I took a ride with another one of my colleagues to an encampment by the river. I’ve been informed of complaints by a local church that there are homeless people that have been asking church goers for money. I brought food and other supplies. I just want to see how many people are living in this area. When we arrive at the church I can see the encampment from the parking lot behind the church. There’s one tent really close, and then there’s about 6 tents close by. There’s also some more sophisticated encampments a little ways down the river. We dropped off some supplies to the people, and then head back to the shelter.
3:00 p.m. I drove out to my campsite. There’s not much more to report for this day. I relaxed in the tent, talked to people on the phone, did a little bit of work on writing and then got to sleep around 8:30 p.m.
